Years of collaborative research effort between Geomodels and the oil industry have satisfactorily met a benchmark with an agreement for creation of the Geomodels-StatoilHydro Centre of Excellence.
The agreement will stimulate research in new areas and will allow Geomodels to be equiped with virtual reality facilities and analogue modeling lab.
The GEOMODELS Institute is a joint research centre relating Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Instituto Geológico y Minero de España, and Generalitat de Catalunya.
Our mission is to develop and divulge new concepts, tools, and workflows for the understanding of geological systems; specially, for the geological systems that are relevant to humans in terms of mineral resources, ground-water, and geohazards.
The team integrates geoscientists, engineers, physicists and mathematicians and our approach benefits from state-of-the art technologies.
