His scientific interests include plant distribution and ecology (Floristics), plant communities (Phytocoenology) and landscape structure (Phytotopography). Together with the floristic works, he has also worked on plant classification (Taxonomy), while the landscape study has led him to vegetation mapping. In this field, he has been the scientific leader in the implementation of the CORINE biotopes system of the European Union to the Catalan territory, for the Catalan Government.
