Archaeology is the science that studies the human societies of the past and their evolution by interpreting the material record recovered by the field work during excavations, prospection, and other activities.
Knowledge of the past is basic to understanding the world as it is today.
Prospective students
The Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology is aimed at students who are interested in the past of humanity. It introduces them to the period from the origins of human beings in prehistory until the great empires, our mediaeval and post-mediaeval past, and the material knowledge of contemporary cultures.

The degree promotes national and international mobility via agreements with selected universities.
At its new premises in the Raval, in the city centre, the Faculty of Geography and History is ideally located thanks to its proximity to other leading cultural institutions. The building has a specialist library, computer rooms, and three archaeology laboratories, one of them devoted to the application of experimental science techniques.
