My name:

The full version of my name is Jędrzej Piotr Grodniewicz. However, since my first name is very difficult to pronounce and memorize for everyone except native Polish-speakers, I use it only for official documents, boarding passes, etc. In everyday communication, I stick to initials.

I work towards my PhD at the University of Barcelona under the supervision of Manuel García-Carpintero and Josep Macià. I have obtained BA degree in philosophy from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków (2012) and MA in analytic philosophy from the University of Barcelona (2013). Before joining the PhD program and LOGOS, I conducted a two-year research project in philosophy of language and mind funded by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2013-2015).

My research interests lie primarily in the philosophy of language and its intersections with the philosophy of mind, epistemology, and philosophy of cognitive sciences. In my dissertation, I will try to outline a new—philosophically attractive and empirically adequate—account of linguistic understanding.

Work in progress:
A paper about the justification of comprehension-based beliefs (Under review);
A paper about the representational states involved in linguistic understanding (Under review);
A paper about the filtering of testimony (Under review)
