  • [September] LOGOS alerts suitable candidates to the fact that, on 9 September 2024, the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation will open its call for predoctoral fellowships, including one 4-year PhD grant each for the following two research projects based at LOGOS:

    (1) “New Paths in the Philosophy of Hybrid Representations” (PID2023-150569NB-I00). Principal investigators: Teresa Marques, Manuel García-Carpintero. For further information on the nature of the project, see here.

    (2) “Paradoxes as Philosophical Tools” (PID2023-150066NB-I00). Principal investigators: José Martínez, Sergi Oms. For further information on the nature of the project, see here.

    The application process is completed in two stages:

    Here applicants can download the call in English and the CV model. The official application has to be submitted directly by the applicant on the same webpage (click “sol·licitud”) from September 9th until September 27th 2024, 14 h.



    (2) The applicant should send an email including the following items to the PIs of the respective projects grant by October 2nd, 2024:


    1. A statement of purpose indicating the candidate's research interests.
    2. A curriculum vitae, including the grades obtained in the previous academic degrees.
    3. A sample of work (maximum 6000 words).
    4. One or two letters of reference addressing the applicant's qualifications for doctoral research. These should be sent by the referees directly to the e-mail addresses above.



    LOGOS specifically and emphatically encourages female philosophers and philosophers belonging to other under-represented groups to do so.

  • The LOGOS Research Group wishes to inform young researchers in philosophy at the postdoctoral stages of their careers (who were or will have been awarded their PhD in the period 01/01/2022 – 31/12/2023) that the Spanish State Agency for Research has published a call for 2-year Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellowships. For candidates, the application period will begin on 17/01/2024 and end on 31/01/2024.      
    Applicants need academics as sponsors. Sponsors must have a PhD and be under contract with the host institution for the duration of the fellowship. LOGOS members in this category are happy to sponsor suitable applicants.   • The Barcelona Institute of Analytic Philosophy (BIAP), of which LOGOS is a founding member, is one out of merely nine research institutes in Spain that have been recognized as a María de Maeztu unit of excellence by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation this year. BIAP will be awarded a substantial research grant for a collaborative project on the nature and role of evidence and thus be able to recruit a significant number of pre- and postdoctoral fellows.

  • The LOGOS Research Group wishes to inform young researchers in philosophy at the early stages of their postdoctoral careers that the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, has recently announced a call for a number of 2-year postdoctoral Juan de la Cierva fellowships (modalidad: formación). The call will open 20/01/2022 and close 03/02/2022. Eligible candidates must have obtained their PhD between 01/01/2020 and 31/12/2021 and be sponsored by a member of the prospective host institution. If candidates wish to be sponsored by a member of LOGOS, they should write to them directly and ask for their support or else to the LOGOS coordinator.   • The Spanish Ministry for Science, Innovation and Universities published another call for PhD fellowships (type: FPU). The selection process has two stages. Applicants passing to the second stage need support from a supervisor and a group of colleagues pursuing a joint line of research. Interested applicants are invited to browse the LOGOS webpage and contact individual LOGOS seniors members according to their research profile.

The positions are for 3 years each, starting 01.10.2016. Diaphora joins the Universities of Barcelona, Munich, Neuchâtel, Stirling, Stockholm and Edinburgh and the ENS Paris (Institut Jean Nicod) as consortium partners.

    The 2 Early Stage Researcher positions are offered by the University of Barcelona and the University of Neuchâtel.

  • Manuel García-Carpintero, Carl Hoefer, and Sven Rosenkranz will coordinate the CONSOLIDER INGENIO 2010 Program "Pensamiento y Hechos en Perspectiva (PERSP)" under the grant CSD2009-0056 (2009-2014). This project will consolidate twelve research groups, eight of which led by members of LOGOS:  José Antonio Díez, Manuel García-Carpintero, Max Kölbel, Dan López de Sa, Josep Macià, Genoveva Martí,  Joan Pagès,  Manuel Pérez Otero. Max Kölbel and Dan López de Sa will coordinate two of the five work-packages, "Issues in Semantics" and "Issues in Metaphysics", respectively. Most members of LOGOS belong to some of these groups.
