Department of Philosophy
University of British Columbia

I was born in Barcelona in 1977. I obtained both "Llicenciatura" (BA) in 1999 and "DEA" (Research MA) in 2002 (under the supervision of Manuel García-Carpintero) at the University of Barcelona. In 2003, I got a "la Caixa" award to pursue graduate studies in Canada. Since 2004, I am a PhD student at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada). I work with Dom Lopes, Jeff Pelletier, and Ori Simchen at UBC, but also with Manuel García-Carpintero and Genoveva Martí at LOGOS.

Research and Interests

My main interests are in philosophy of language, metaphysics, formal semantics, aesthetics, and ethics. I wrote my master’s thesis on the semantics and metaphysics of propositional attitude attributions. Currently, I am writing my doctoral dissertation on fiction as well as visiting the department of linguistics and philosophy of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Other work in progress I have at the moment is on the coherence of relativism (Metaethics), the categorization of things and the actualism/possibilism debate (Metaphysics of Modality/Ontology), the adicity of causation (Metaphysics/Philosophy of Science), propositional attitude ascriptions (Semantics/Pragmatics/Metaphysics), and the compositionality of Millian modes of presentation (Philosophy of Language).
