Abstract

I shall consider several phenomena that have been used to motivate semantic contents that are centered or unspecific in some way. The cases allow us to model certain similarities and differences among mental states or among meaningful utterances. I shall argue that if we want to address all the phenomena with the same conceptual move regarding content, we have a difficult (seemingly fatal) problem on our hands. I shall try to signal a way out of the problem.
