Research group in Psychopedagogical Orientation
The GROP (Research Group in Psychopedagogical Orientation, by its acronym in Catalan) is a research group that was created in 1997, at the Faculty of Pedagogy in University of Barcelona, consolidated and recognized as a quality group by the Generalitat de Catalunya. It was founded by Dr. Rafael Bisquerra Alzina, who led the group in its first stage. Since 2008, it is leaded by Dra. Núria Pérez Escoda.
It is an interuniversity group that is composed of teachers from the University of Barcelona and the University of Lleida. Therefore, the UdL GROP is managed by Dra. Gemma Filella Guiu since 2001.
Our principal line of investigation is the emocional education. However, we also do research in other related lines, especially, with psychopedagogical orientation (educational, personal, school and professional). Entre nuestras realizaciones, cabe destacar la creación, en 2002, del Postgrado en Educación Emocional y Bienestar; el Postgrado en Inteligencia Emocional en las Organizaciones, en 2009; las Jornadas de Educación Emocional, que se celebran anualmente desde 2005; así como nombrosas y diversas investigaciones y publicaciones en estas líneas.
Emotional education is GROP’s principal line of research. We highlight the following sub-lines:
– Develpoment of the “emotional competency model” of GROP.
– Evaluation of needs and design of emotional education programmes.
– Aplication and evaluation of emotional education programmes.
– Development of instruments for the evaluation of emotional competence.
– Development of resources and multimedia material (video games) for the practice of emotional education.
– Prevention and resolution of conflicts in school and work contexts.
The research in this line tries to elaborate theoretical framework and to design emotional education programs for diverse recipients, with the objective of promoting the development of emotional competences.
We understand the educational orientation as a process of continuous support assistance to all students, in all different aspects, under the objective of promoting conflict prevention and resolution and human development.
In this conceptual framework, our research is concerned with the study of teaching-learning processes and psycho-pedagogical advice. More specifically, in the study of the variables involved in personal and educational success; and, especially, in the development and improvement of the orientation and tutorial action.
Research in this line is not only aimed at students, but also teachers and families.
We are interested in studying the factors and processes (cognitive, affective and social that are involved in education and the profession throughout the life cycle.
The subject areas are professional decision-making processes, vocational maturity, transversal and technical skills for professional development, personal and work transitions…
Research in this line is applied beyond the formal educational context, approaching the context of organizations and the socio-labor context.
