This week, the UB officially welcomed its foreign students in an event organized jointly by the Vice-Rectorate of International and Institutional Relations and the Vice-Rectorate of Students and Language Policy. The event took place on Thursday, 12 November, at 16.30h, in the Paranimf. The speakers were the Rector Dídac Ramírez and the Vice-Rectors Carles Carreras and Gemma Fonrodona.

This academic year, more than a thousand foreign students will attend classes at the UB, through international mobility programs such as ERASMUS, bilateral agreements, Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Windows and other agreements with the US, or via individual applications. The UB is host to students from 38 countries from all over the world, with the largest numbers coming from Italy, Germany, the US, France and Portugal. There are foreign students at most of the faculties, but the most popular areas of study are Philology, Economics and Business, Law, Geography and History.

The welcome event exemplifies the University of Barcelona’s commitment to attracting foreign students. The UB also aims to increase the international mobility of its own students through the thousand or so agreements that it has signed with universities all over the world.
