Marta Giralt participates in La Marató de TV3 Masterclass at the Faculty of Biology

What are the key factors of La Marató de TV3’s success? How are the funded projects chosen in each edition? What does it generate for the benefit of society in return? Why do thousands of people collaborate by making donations every year? La Marató de TV3 as a successful model in research finance is the theme of the masterclass to be held on Thursday, March 15, at 12 noon, in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Biology.

The masterclass to be presided over by the Rector, Joan Elias, will cover the initiatives of La Marató Foundation as the drivers of the scientific research in Catalonia, with a special focus on the projects of the Faculty of Biology, funded in several calls.

What does it mean to take part in a research project that is funded by La Marató? The lecturer Marta Giralt, from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine and member of the Institute of Biomedicine (IBUB), will talk about her experience as the researcher of a project funded by La Marató 2015 ─Identification of molecular mediators of signalling from intestine to insulin sinsitization and the browning of adipose tissue: role of LBP and FGF15/19─ led together with José María Moreno (Hospital Doctor Josep Trueta).
