Main lines of research and activities

The research centres on the influence of a range of factors on the learning of English as a foreign language in the school setting. The three main factors studied are age, intensity and type of exposure. The group has participated in other projects, such as "Translanguage in Europe-Content and Language Integrated Learning (T.I.E-C.L.I.L.)" (the European Union's Lingua project), on the integrated learning of content and foreign language (AICLE), and, in conjunction with the University of Concordia (Canada), has recently obtained funding for a new project under the auspices of the TIRF (TESOL International Research Foundation) entitled "Age, intensity of instruction and metalinguistic awareness in EFL learning".
