Professor of Education, Department of Applied Sciences of Education, University of Helsinki. Scientific leader on the Organisation and effectiveness of preschool education in the city of Helsinki, funded by Social Services Department and Education Department of the city of Helsinki, and researcher for the TEMPUS Phare Joint European Project Restructuring the primary teacher education in Slovenia (The European Training Foundation, EU, 1996-1999). Expert member of the Steering Committee for the OECD-project “Attracting, Developing and Retaining Effective Teachers”, appointed by the Ministry of Education.
