This training seminar, jointly organized by the Autonomous niversity of Barcelona and the University of Barcelona, was held in two different sessions. The first one was held in the Basque Country (Session I) on the 1st and 2nd of October of 2007 with the participation of Ramón Flecha, principal investigator of the INCLUD-Ed project and Mikko Ojala – member of the Finnish team of Includ-Ed project. Twenty five people attended this conference and they included:

* Professors and researchers from various universities
* Policy-makers: the secretary for education in the Basque Country Mr. José Antonio Campos Granados, the General Director for Educational Innovation in the Basque Government, Mr. Juan José Aguirrezabala Mantxola
* Relevant civil society organization representatives
* Practitioners

The second session (Session II) in Barcelona was held on the 29th of November in the Autonomous University of Barcelona. More than 20 people attended the session, among whom were mainly young researchers, professors and practitioners.

The two Training seminar sessions were thus complementary as the first one was aimed at policy-makers and different stake-holders (as for example, teachers) and the second session was mostly aimed at researchers and young researchers.

Session I served to present and discuss the theoretical basis of the Include-Ed project, along with the results of the first project. Ramón Flecha contributed with an analysis of the Learning Communities project sucess, which was related to the scientific-based approach of the project, in accordance with the Includ-ed theoretical basis. Mikko Ojala focused on the inclusionary measures of the Finnish educational system, which has lead this country to great educational success in terms of performance and equity. The session ended by the presentation of the Basque Government’s plan involving the extension of the Learning communities project to the whole of the region, based on the scientific findings of the Includ-Ed project and their implications.
