PROJECT 2. European effective educational practices: How is education contributing to overcome or reproduce social exclusion?

Project leader: Myranda Christou (University of Cyprus).

GENERAL OBJECTIVES: To analyse components from educational practices that are decreasing the rates of school failure and those of the practices that are increasing them.

RESEARCH QUESTION: Which educational practices (at the level of system, school and classroom) increase school failure and which ones lead to school success?

Literature review : Revision of the literature on educational reforms, theories and policy developments in Europe.

* Working papers: Literature on effective educational practices in Europe (a paper for each level of education and for each area of knowledge)

Case studies I. 20 case studies on educational effective practices.

Case studies: 10 standardized open-ended interviews, 1 communicative focus group, 5 communicative observations and document about the educational centre.

The Project 2 Meeting was held in Nicosia on the 26th of September 2008. The online publication of the monographs was discussed and new guidelines were provided for this. Another topic of discussion of this meeting was the dissemination of the results of Project 2 in future presentations, conferences and potential publications in academic journals. All of the partners involved in project 2 attended this meeting. Reflections and an evaluation of the workshop held on the previous day were also made in this meeting.
