Guidelines to undergraduate research

Guidelines to obtain the free election credits after doing supervised research in the research groups of the various Departments of the School of Chemistry, approved by the 'Consell d'Estudis de Química', May,31, 2002.

1. The Departments will inform the Head of Undergraduate Studies the number of placements offered, clearly stating the supervising professors and the kind of research work to be performed by the student.
2. The Head of Undergraduate Studies will publish a public call of all the placements available at the School of Chemistry.
3. The students will address the Departments to apply for a placement.
4. In order to be eligible, the student must have passed all obligatory subjects of the first cycle of their degree, as well as the obligatory subjects of the second cycle of the Department they are applying at
5. The Departments will assign the placement following their internal rules. The results will be published and will be final.
6. The research will be performed out of the normal school year.
7. In order to get the credits after the placement, the student will submit the following:
• application letter (following a standard model);
• letter of the supervisor, signed by the Head of the Department, stating the dates of the placement and the number of hours worked;
• research report, approved by the supervisor.
8. These placements are not compatible with any remunerated activity (for example: undergraduate studentships , etc...).
9. Failure to fulfill any of these rules will automatically invalidate the obtention of the credits.
