Presentation
The Nutrition and Food Safety Research Institute (INSA·UB) is backed by several research groups belonging to the faculties of Pharmacy, Biology, Chemistry and Geography and History, as well as others from associated centres and hospitals linked to the UB. INSA·UB aims to meet the needs of today's society in terms of research, training and service provision in sectors related to the agro-food industry.
Mission
· To carry out high-quality research in its field and ensure its relevance to food science and human health.
· To foster technology transfer and offer expert advice and training to the food industry and government bodies.
· To provide consumers with information based on scientific research.

Objetives
- To promote research in its fields of interest and promote the setting up of multidisciplinary groups.
- To increase participation in institutional and public research programmes, and particularly in European research projects.
- To furth12.01.2009rating in fields related to the activities undertaken by INSA·UB .
- To market the existing potential of the UB in this field, particularly in the training of technicians and specialists, and in service provision.
- To boost knowledge transfer and the dissemination of research results across society and government bodies.
- To provide a consultancy service to consumers, enterprises and public administration on issues related to nutrition and food quality and safety.
- The Institute also aims to become an effective tool for analysis and transmission of information, providing training opportunities to undergraduate and doctoral students on scientific and technological issues within its area of expertise.
