Call for postdoctoral candidates interested in applying for a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship in the field of “Marine Chemical Ecology”

Research Group: Conxita's Lab
IP: Conxita Àvila

Group and project information
We work in marine chemical ecology, natural products, and ecological interactions in marine benthic invertebrates. Most of the biological interactions among marine organisms, at an intra- and interspecific level and between them and their environment, are mediated by natural products, originated either from the organisms themselves or from their symbionts. Their study provides information on the ecology and biology of the species involved, and the operation and structure of the community. Some of these chemicals have also proven to be useful for humans, as precursors of active molecules to design new drugs with a pharmacologic potential. The benthic fauna group has an extensive expertise in chemical ecology of marine organisms, natural products chemistry and taxonomy of invertebrates. Our recent research lines open a window to new challenges to experimentally analyze variability, production and bioactivity of compounds in different environments. We would welcome a highly motivated researcher, with good skills and background, to sum up with our current team, and providing some added value to our research by incorporating new perspectives into the ecology of marine invertebrates.
