The microbiologist Ricard Guerrero, doctor honoris causa for the Veracruzana University

Ricard Guerrero, Emeritus Professor of Microbiology at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Barcelona, ​​was awarded an honorary doctorate from Veracruz University (Veracruz, Mexico) on September 11th, as part of the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Founding of this university institution.

Ricard Guerrero, professor at the UB's former Department of Microbiology and also linked to the Biodiversity Research Institute of the UB (IRBio), is an ecogenetic expert and one of the foremost drivers of microbial ecology in our country. He has been awarded the Narcís Monturiol Prize for the Scientific Merit of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2000), is one of the founders of the Spanish Society of Biotechnology and has carried out studies of great projection on the early stages of microorganism communities to ours Planet from the perspective of Gaia theory, or science of the physiology of the Earth.

Ricard Guerrero, who has been the scientific secretary of the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC), is the author of numerous scientific articles on genetics, biochemistry and ecology, and is part of the editorial committee of several national and international scientific journals. He is also a recognized dissertant of scientific knowledge and honorary member of the Catalan Association of Scientific Communication (ACCC), an entity whose objective is to promote the dissemination and social projection of research.

At the same ceremony, they also received the distinction honoris causa by the experts José Ramón Cossío Díaz and Mauricio Hardie Beuchot Puente, of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and Bernard Lahire, of the Superior Normal School of Lyon (France) .
