Charm-EU, an interdisciplinary and challenge-driven European university is set up

The University of Barcelona, the Trinity College Dublin, the University of Utrecht, the University of Montpellier and the Loránd Eötvös University of Budapest create the Charm-EU alliance, a new European university project based on interdisciplinarity and students’ challenge achievement. One of the axes of this network will be the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The rector of the UB, Joan Elias, stressed that the three main points of Charm-EU are:
1) The great linguistic plurality provided by the five participating universities
2) Being a university based on international projects, open and inclusive for citizens around the world
3) The truly European character of learning experiences, drawing on the best tradition of the continent’s culture with the aspiration to integrate popular and academic culture

The idea is based on an initiative of the European Council to create networks of European universities with the aim of improving the international competitiveness of higher education institutions and reinforcing the feeling of European membership.
