# IRED19: First action of the Network of Institutes of Research in Education
The Institutes of Research in Education enhance the activity of research in the field of education and establish synergies between researchers and research groups in their own knowledge areas.
In April 2019, a meeting was held between directors of Educational Research Institutes of different State universities to develop a first roadmap for the creation of a State Network of Educational Research Institutes. The objective of this network is to promote the national and international presence of these research structures. The aim is to contribute to the improvement of recognition of the scientific and social impact of Spanish educational research. This network includes:
- Institut de Recerca i Innovació Educativa, Universitat Illes Balears
- Instituto Universitario de Ciencias de la Educación, Universidad de Salamanca
- Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela
- Institut de Recerca Educativa, Universitat de Girona
- Instituto de Investigación e Innovación Educativa, Universidad de Oviedo
- Institut de Recerca en Educació, Universitat de Barcelona
- Instituto Interuniversitario Andaluz de Investigación Educativa
From this meeting, a first action emerged that is about to crystallize: the organization of the 1st International Conference on Research in Education, #IRED19, which will take place on November 4 and 5 in the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona.
