New book by Henry Giroux: The terror of the unforeseen

The professor Henry Giroux, one of the founding theorists of critical pedagogy, has recently published the book “The terror of the unforeseen”, a work that provides food for thought on some of the aspects that he observes as more worrying about today’s society: the tyranny of capitalism and the culture of cruelty and reification, as well as the resurgence of fascism in the era of Donald Trump’s presidency in the United States.

In this work, Giroux examines the hate language that activates neoliberal fascism, casino capitalism and the sowing of terror in North-American society. His proposal is to activate an international social movement together with different forms of resistance through protests, strikes and education to give birth to a democratic renewal.

Without a doubt, Giroux is one of the great intellectuals of our time and we will have the opportunity to see him at the 1st International Conference on Research in Education, on November 4 at 9:30 in the hall of the University of Barcelona. Remember that you must register before to attend this and many other key presentations to understand where we are in the education and educational research landscape, as well as the challenges that arise and the commitments that we must reach to face them.

Here are two highly recommended interviews with Henry Giroux:
