The
Research Institute of Applied Economics (IREA) was founded in 2005,
forms part of the Barcelona Science Park and employs 60 researchers
as members of three separate groups working in the field of Applied
Economics. The groups, AQR, RISC and GiM are recognized
by the Generalitat of Catalonia as consolidated research groups;

For the first time in the Faculty a member of AQR_IREA has published in one of the most prestigious economy's magazines placed in the group of the best 5 of the world. The magazine Review of Economic Studies has published the article “Structural changes, common stochastic trends, and unit roots in panel data” written by Dr. Bai and el Dr. Josep Lluís Carrion-i-Silvestre, this one, member of AQR-IREA.
Dr Jordi Suriñach has been invited to the conference “Building a Systemic Approach to Innovation: Analysis and Policy” organized by the European Commission on November 20, 2009. The target of this conference is to bring together experts from International Organizations, Finance Institutions, Companies and Faculties to discuss the role of finance and R&D on the economic recovery's context to do away with the current economic crisis.
