The venue of ISSID 2013 is the CosmoCaixa, also known as the Science’s Museum of Barcelona, close to the ridge of Collserola, in the highest part of the city. This is an historical modernist building, redesigned and extended by by Terradas Arquitectos, in order to fulfill the requirements of the Fundació La Caixa, in order to house the museum. These arquitects conserved and restored the antique modernist nave’s wall, and they built the new reception and exhibition halls. The new space, four times bigger than the former, includes nine floors and a large public square with breathtaking sights over to the city.
