Announcement
We would like this event to be not just the divulging arena for the activities carried out by the research group linked to the current research projects, but also that it would have an open, interdisciplinary and international projection. Our purpose is to favour a fruitful debate around different aspects regarding literary translation in the Contemporary age.
With this in mind, we have organised a Conference around the following thematic blocks, which will allow us to monitor our scientific discussion whilst focalising the debate towards concrete results:
1. Translation, gender and multiculturalism.
2. Translation and intertextuality.
3. Contemporary translation of the Classics.
4. Translation and literary reception: systemic studies of Hispanic and Latin American contexts.
5. Contemporary thought on translation (XXth century).
6. Inter.-semiotic translation.
7. Politics of translation.
The Conference will gather in Barcelona Spanish scholars and scholars from abroad. All of them will be specialists on translation studies and related areas. We will also have literary translators and other professionals of this area. The languages of the works presented will be Spanish, Catalan, and English.
The Conference will be held in one venue: the Facultad de Filología of the Universitat de Barcelona (Gran Vía de les Corts Catalans, 585 - 08007 Barcelona).
For students and other people interested, there is a possibility to officially approve the participation in the sessions of the Conference as Free Credits ('Créditos de Libre Elección').
If you are interested in participating and sending a paper, please send a title and an abstract (20 lines maximum) before 30th November 2005 to Assumpta Camps (a.camps@ub.edu) and Oriol Carbonell (carbonell3003@yahoo.co.uk). Deadline for delivering all contributions: 1st February 2006 (in floppy disks and hard copy), to the address bellow).
All the information in relation to the Conference (programme, participants, abstracts, publication guidelines, and further information such as accommodation and travelling) will be available in the Conference Webpage: www.ub.edu/lettere/congres_2006
