The venue of the TISLR-related "Workshop on the Cross-linguistic Study of Classifier Constructions in Sign Languages" (September 29) will be the Sala Prat de la Riba of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans in Barcelona (Casa de Convalescència building).
It is at walking distance from Plaça Universitat (10' approximately).

Getting from the airport to the city centre
You can find relevant info about Barcelona airport in its official website. You have four reliable options for traveling between the airport and the city centre: by taxi, Aerobus, train or car. For more details, visit http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/barcelona-airport.html.Taxi
You'll find the taxi rank on the left hand side when you leave the airport main exit. The journey to the city centre takes between 20 to 30 min. Expect to pay around 20 Euros for the journey into the centre. There will also be a small additional charge for each bag. You'll find the rates displayed inside the cab.Aerobus
The aerobus service is a bus service that links Barcelona airport to the city centre. It runs every 15 min. You can catch the Aerobus from the airport and you have stops at Plaça Espanya, Plaça Universitat and Plaça de Catalunya.Single ticket: 3.45 euros

RENFE train
The RENFE train service to and from Barcelona airport to the city centre runs approximately every 30 min's to and from Sants or Catalunya, in the centre
of Barcelona. The journey is approximately 30 mins. Once at one of these stops you can change for the Barcelona metro.

Safety
Barcelona is not a dangerous city, but there are quite a lot of pickpockets and muggers active, especially downtown (La Rambla, Barri Gòtic, etc.), at tourist attractions and places like train or metro stations, or at the airport. It only takes a minimal effort to pay a bit of extra attention to where and how you're carrying your wallet, bag or backpack, and it spares you the ordeal of having your documents and money stolen, you camera or your notebook. Please keep an eye on those items while you're walking in the street or sitting in public places. Don't do things like leaving sensitive items on the floor or on a chair while drinking something at a bar or on a terrace. Then you'll be on the safe side.You don't need to get obsessed with this, just a bit careful!

Deaf participants should know that, if they should get involved in an emergency situation, there exist two special procedures they can resort to:
- A standardized form depicting all kinds of emergency situations. You must indicate which one you are asking assistance for and fax it to number 900 500 112
- An SMS message to number 679 436 200 with a code that describes the emergency
Copies of the standardized fax form (procedure i) and a leaflet with the number codes to be used in the emergency SMS (procedure ii) will be made available at the conference registration desk.
