General objectives
The main aim of the master’s degree course is to provide interdisciplinary training in the Arab and Islamic world, covering different aspects of its history, culture, society and language, and equipping students who wish to learn about its complexities, for professional reasons or otherwise, to understand it and experience it appropriately.
Specific objectives
To learn about the Arab world’s geography and history, and the Arab countries’ political and economic systems and membership of international organizations.
To learn about the general principles of Islam in its various manifestations.
To become familiar with the main schools of thought and ideologies currently shaping the Arab world.
To learn about the scientific and literary contributions of the Arab world.
To understand the social and cultural diversity of the Arab world.
To obtain basic knowledge of different geographical and temporal variants of Arabic.
