1. How can I gain admittance to the Master in Biophysics?

The basic requirements to access to the Master in Biophysics are the same for every master adapted to the European Area of Higher Education. 2. What is a Master adaptated to the European Area?

The Masters adapted to the European Area of Higher Education (EAHE) are the new structure of postgraduate courses, together with the PhD courses, harmonized in duration, learning methodology and evaluation of academic activities among european universities. This harmonization aims at facilitating students' mobility within Europe, allowing for the compatibility of studies, and their professional integration to the european industrial market. 3. What is an ECTS?

ECTS stands for Europen Credit Transfer System, which is the compatible credit unit for the new studies adapted to the Europen Area. One ECTS credit corresponds to 25-30 total hours of student's work (teaching hours and student's working hours). One academic year is equivalent to a maximum of 60 ETCS, which imply full time dedication of the student.

4. What is the duration of the Master in Biophysics?

At present, the Master in Biophysics has a duration of 60 ETCS for students graduated in related subjects, corresponding to a minimum of one year. The number of ECTS necessary can be higher (up to 120), depending on prior training.

5. Can the Master in Biophysics be done part-time?

Yes, students can register, for instance, for 30 ECTS during one year, and therefore finish the 60 ECTS required to obtain the qualification in two years.

7. What's the tuition fee of the Master in Biophysics?

The tuition fee is decided by the University of Barcelona according to criteria set by the Generalitat de Catalunya and is common to all Masters of the University that belong to the Area of Experimental Sciences. The fee is adjusted yearly. It was 28 Euros/ECTS for the the first academic and it will be 29,88 Euros/ECTS for 2008-09.

8. What are the steps to follow to register the Master in Biophysics?

You have to pre-register during the established period (June 13 - July 14). You can do so online by clicking here. The Coordination Committe will evaluate all the pre-registrations received and will communicate the list of admitted students. Registration will take place from September 4th to September 8th at the Faculty of Physics. A second pre-enrollment period will take place from September 9th to September 13th.

9. When is the pre-registration period?

The period for pre-pregistration starts the 13th of June and ends the 14th of July.

10. Do I have to do all the credits if I am a PhD student?

PhD students can validate some courses and the final project if their prior studies are compatible to the master contents, subject to the Coordinating Commettee's approval.
