Admission requirements and applicant background

The basic admission requirements are identical for all official Masters of the European Higher Education Area, and can be read on the websites of the University of Barcelona and of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The specific admission requirement for the Master in Biophysics is the possession of an academic degree in the sciences or engineering.

Due to the multidisciplinarity of the Master, students with diverse background can be admitted. The Master is addressed primarily to students with prior training in Physics, Biological Sciences and Chemistry. Students with training on other scientific disciplines or engineering will also be considered.

Starting date

The Master is organized in two semesters: Fall semester (September through January) and Spring Semester (February through July). Students can start the program in either semester: February or September.

Admission to the Master

Admission to the Master program is in two steps: Pre-enrollment and Enrollment.

Pre-enrollement

You must pre-enroll on-line here. There is a limited number of places available, therefore applicants must pre-enroll to be admitted. Based on the academic record and background of the applicants, the Coordination Committee will decide a list of students admitted for enrollment and publish it here. Pre-enrollment is possible at any time during the academic year. Admissions for 2008/09 will be decided and published in four different periods:

- April 2008: all applications received before April 23rd will be considered. Admissions will be posted on this website in the subsequent two weeks.

- July 2008: all applications received before July 15th will be considered. Admissions will be posted on this website in the subsequent two weeks.

- First half of September 2008: all applications received before September 8th will be considered. Admissions will be posted on this website within a few days.

- Second half of January 2009 (only for students beginning in February 2009).

During the first admission period not all places will be assigned. A number of places will be reserved for the other three admission periods.
