Module 3: Simulation and clinical safety in the management of critical patients and emergencies

The use of Clinical Simulation as a teaching tool aims to train students in teamwork and decision making, allowing them to put theoretical knowledge and technical skills into practice in a realistic clinical situation. In this module we move one step further in the learning circle, so that the student acquires a new dimension of work based on the resolution of crisis situations – “Crisis Resource Management (CRM)” -, a methodology that promotes safety, addressing the behavioral and cognitive skills necessary to effectively manage all available resources during a critical situation.

The student will learn to recognize the determinants that influence their decision making process and the care process. It will deepen in the concept of error and human factor. Will train non-technical skills such as communication, leadership, follower, and teamwork, root cause analysis. As the cornerstone of the simulation, we work through reflective learning, critical thinking and stimulate constructive criticism through advanced debriefing and facilitation techniques.
