The aim of the doctorate program in Pure and Applied Logic is to train competent researchers in logic, above all in the areas in which the University of Barcelona has a high level of specialization:

History of logic

Model theory

Set theory

Algebraic logic

Non-classical logics

Universal algebra

Philosophy of logic and mathematics

The research period of the doctoral program lasts three years, which may be extended for one or two years more with the approval of the Studies Commission. Doctoral students acquire a firm grounding in their area of study through the experience of writing their PhD thesis and by learning to master research techniques.
