The master’s degree course has a total study load of 60 credits distributed between three modules, each of which has a study load of 20 credits:
compulsory credits (module 1A/1B),
optional credits (module 2) and
pathway-specific credits (module 3A/3B). Module 1A/1B comprises subjects covering the general aspects of the course content. Module 2 contains a series of optional subjects. Module 3A/3B contains subjects specific to the pathway chosen by each student (research or professional): students who choose the research pathway must complete 20 research credits; students who choose the professional pathway must complete 10 credits corresponding to an external placement and 10 credits corresponding to the final project.
Students should discuss their choice of subjects and pathway with the tutor at the time of enrolment.
Learning activities
The master’s degree in Environmental Agrobiology uses a blended learning approach and includes specific subjects belonging to research and professional pathways. Subjects combine a variety of learning activities, which may include face-to-face lectures, practical laboratory sessions, fieldwork, computer sessions, problem-solving sessions, seminars, talks and directed learning activities supervised by a tutor.
Duration
Students may choose to complete the 60 credits required to obtain the master’s degree in one academic year or over a longer period, although they must enrol for at least 20 credits per academic year. Places on the master’s degree course are offered annually.
Teaching centre and other venues
Compulsory and optional modules are taught at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Barcelona. Work corresponding to other credits, such as placements and research assignments, will be carried out at the centre, organization or company in question.
