1. How much does a university masters degree course cost?
A 60-credit university masters degree course at the UB generally costs 2000 euros. All the fees have been officially recognized by the Catalan government (Generalitat de Catalunya), which determines the university credit fees system. For the academic year 2011-2012, each credit costs 31,42 euros. For further information, see: Procedures, fees and payment.
2. How many credits are taken each year?
In the first year, a maximum of 60 credits can be gained for subjects that are taught in a face-to-face format over a semester.
In the second year, 30 credits are awarded for a research project. In total, 90 credits are required to obtain the masters degree.
3. What is the language of instruction for the masters degree?
All of the subjects are taught in Spanish, except for a few classes or seminars that may be given in English.
4. When does the academic year begin and end?
The academic year begins in October and ends in June.
5. What are the closing dates for pre-enrolment?
Pre-enrolment is open throughout the academic year. However, students must pre-enrol by September for the following academic year.
6. How do you apply for a letter of acceptance on the masters degree course?
You must first pre-enrol through the University of Barcelonas online system. Once pre-enrolment has been completed, the secretary will ask the applicant to present the required documents.
7. How is enrolment confirmed?
Once a prospective student has received a letter of acceptance, he/she should confirm the enrolment by paying the fees established for the academic year.
8. What is the timetable for the masters degree course?
Monday to Friday afternoons (4.00pm to 8.30pm). Some company visits may be scheduled for the mornings.
9. What are university masters degree courses?
These are new programs offering advanced training in a specialist area of academic or professional practice; alternatively, they provide students with the research training needed to begin a doctorate. The price of program fees are controlled and fixed by the government and have been adapted to comply with the requisites of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). In other words, the masters degree is recognized throughout Europe.
10. How the degree certificate will be issued?
Students who have completed the master's degree course and wish to be issued the certificate should first make sure that all the subjects they have studied are listed on their academic transcript and that they have completed the 90 credits required. The Secretary's Office for Students and Teaching Staff will then inform them of this year's fee for the rights to the issue of the certificate, which they may pay by cash or credit card at the Postgraduate School. At the time of payment the student should also present their national identity card or passport and two photocopies of this document. Upon payment of the fee, the Postgraduate School will issue the student with a receipt (the 'resguard del títol'), which the student should keep until the certificate itself is finally issued.
