Crime and public safety issues are of great social and political significance. Security issues are changing rapidly and also strategies for dealing with them. This generates a demand for training and research in the area which has been heard and approached by the the University of Barcelona through the Master in Criminology, Criminal Policy and Security (MCPCS), the first edition of which starts the next academic year 2010-2011.
The master’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Policy and Security aims to train highly skilled professionals and researchers to respond effectively, flexibly and imaginatively to the challenges of contemporary security. The master offers an advanced, multidisciplinary, science-based training, under ethical and sensitive criteria to social needs.
Monitoring and improvement of different subjects that make up the master's program entitles to obtain the official Master issued by the University of Barcelona, adapted to the special European Higher Education Area.
It is a master on the basis that common specialists to prepare for, and after overcoming some common materials, allows students to conduct research project supervised, which will give them access to doctoral program.
