This Master is addressed to students without professional experience but with one of those academic qualifications considered suitable by the Master Program Coordinators, and to applicants who have experience in the food and agriculture sector and wish to further their professional careers in the area of product research and development.
The program is designed to provide specialist training in research and development in the subject of Food, and to teach participants a combination of basic research skills and the technical and practical know-how to work in interdisciplinary teams in the food business. Because of this, it contains subjects that form a common core but also further subjects offering students one of two preparative pathways: a pathway towards pure academic or institutional research and an alternative pathway towards the practice of research and development in the food industry.
For students choosing the pathway towards the food industry, this program prepares participants for careers in the research and development departments of agro-food companies, a professional area that is gaining increasing importance in Catalonia and for which university-qualified personnel is in much demand.
For those choosing the pathway towards academic research, the program provides training in the general area of Food Research in university and institutional research teams, and in the area between academic research and R&D units in the food industry.
