Specific admission requirements
To be admitted to the Master it will be a requirement to be in possession of a university degree (4/5 year studies at the university) in Biology, Medicine, Veterinary, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Environmental Sciences, Odontology, or other degrees in Experimental Sciences granted by European universities or from other countries, after authorization and/or validation by the University of Barcelona. The varied typology of students determines that the Studies Plan includes specific levelling subjects according to students' previous education. These subjects are incorporated in levelling modules of 30 ECTS.
For the admission to the doctorate it will be compulsory to have obtained a post-graduate in Microbiology or the equivalent degree in a homologated university.

The Master Coordinative Committee is initially constituted by 5 members: the Master General Coordinator, the Microbiology Department Coordinator (UB), the Microbiology and Sanitary Parasitology Department Coordinator (UB), the Balearic Islands University Coordinator and the representative of the Dean of the Biology Faculty of the University of Barcelona.

Merit evaluation or selection criteria
For the students selection will be specially evaluated the following aspects:
- Academic record
- Knowledge of English language and one of the official languages in Catalonia (Spanish or Catalan).
- Previous professional experience
- Reference letters by university lecturers, researchers and professionals of the business world
- Possibility of personal interview
Previous studies acknowledgement criteria
Students will have to prove basic knowledge in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Physiology and Molecular Biology. This knowledge will have to be evaluated and might be necessary to carry out a levelling module.
