University master’s degree in Drug, Cosmetics and Food Quality
With ever increasing demands for quality assurance and the adaptation of new technologies to product development, the drug, food and cosmetics industries have a growing need for qualified professionals in these areas, both nationally and internationally. Existing programs of study, however, do not provide students with sufficient training in the specialized knowledge and skills required, particularly when it comes to laboratory practice and real world experience.
European integration and consequent free trade has led to the establishment of common regulations, especially regarding the development, quality control and innovation of health and quality of life products. The university master’s degree in Food, Drug and Cosmetics Quality is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and competence in quality control needed in these industries, wherein the regulations for safety, efficacy and stability of developed products are increasingly more demanding.
Working in conjunction with other European universities that have equivalent university master’s degree programs and student and teacher mobility gives the master’s degree course added value, allowing for the comparison of different national perspectives and the opportunity to work on equivalences with a view to greater harmonization across Europe. Interaction between the universities and the real world is an essential element of training.
The master’s degree course is offered in two pathways – a research pathway and a professional practice pathway – and comprises 120 credits:
1. 60 ECTS training credits in advanced analytical methods and techniques, including a three-month placement in a research laboratory or relevant industry.2. 60 ECTS specialization credits, including a six-month research placement or professional placement, corresponding to the students preferred specialization:
- Drug Quality
- Food Quality
- Cosmetics Quality
Students have the possibility of carrying out a part of the master’s degree course at the Paris Descartes University within the framework of the Erasmus student mobility scheme.
