Objectives Print

This master’s degree focuses on the general discipline of typography and its applications in the design of graphic products. It is intended to:

  • introduce students to the concepts of the alphabet and typography, as foundations for the dissemination of knowledge and information in specific cultural surroundings;

  • encourage reflective learning through the use of problem-solving strategies directly applicable to the field of information and graphic communication;

  • stimulate the development of creative and innovative solutions related to the applications and technologies used throughout the program;

  • strengthen students’ skills and critical understanding of the key ideas, concepts and theories in the field of typography;

  • provide an in-depth understanding of the functional and aesthetic potential of graphic products;

  • help students to acquire procedural methodologies for developing alternative and innovative graphic solutions;

  • provide students with the skills to prevent, respond and adapt to changing needs and circumstances in the world of graphic visual communication;

  • encourage the standardisation and systematisation of specific terminology in each of the languages of instruction (Catalan, Spanish, English, etc.).
