Magic in the Middle Ages

Magic in the Middle Ages is a free and online introductory course to the Middle Ages developed around a wide conception of magic. Students will have an approach to medieval culture, beliefs and practices from the perspective of different areas of knowledge (History, Literature, Art History, History of Sciences and Philosophy).

The course is offered in English, but we provide subtitles in English, Spanish and Catalan. The contents of the course are as follows:

I. Introduction to magic in Medieval Europe
II. Magic and heresy in the Middle Ages. The Jews and the kabbalah
III. Popular magic in the Middle Ages.
IV. Magic in Islam
V. Astrology and Geomancy

The course will be offered on demand starting next July.
