L'Esquerda and its Territory along the river Ter from the Antiquity to the Middle Ages, 2014-2017 [University of Barcelona and Fundació Privada l'Esquerda]

The project is planned as a continuation of the archaeological research on L’Esquerda and its territory during the next four years (2014-2017). It aims to extend the objectives of both the Iberian site and the medieval site:
1) delineate and excavate the outermost part of the Visigothic-Carolingian wall section found during the last year’s excavation, as well as the adjacent necropolis and the moat;
2) continuation of the excavation of the Iberian strata in house 6, and beginning of the excavations in the new Iberian quarter located in the west sector.
As for the territory, several archaeological surveys will be conducted along the course of the river Ter, as well as the excavation of a castle locate in the area of influence of l’Esquerda.
