In the UB campus we have at our disposal a Thin section service, located in the Faculty of Geology, where they make any kind of thin sections, sections for fluid inclusion measurements and polished sections. This service also has jaw crushers and ring mills for rock crushing and grinding, needed for further chemical analyses. At the Department of Mineralogy, Petrology and Applied Geology there are several magnifying glasses and polarizing microscopes for the mineralogical and textural characterization of samples:

* Nikon Eclipse LV100 POL microscope
* 3 Zeiss and 1 Leitz Wetzlar microscopes
* Nikon Eclipse TE2000-S inverted research microscope
* Nikon SMZ 1500 and Zeiss magnifying glasses

There is also a Linkam THMSG 600 heating/freezing stage for fluid inclusion measurements, coupled to a Nikon Eclipse 50i POL polarizing microscope, a Luminoscope ELM-3R cathode-luminescence equipment and a Netzsch thermal analysis equipment. Besides, there is a digital camera coupled to a PC for capturing of images.

In the research group lab we can clean, separate and prepare rock/mineral samples and oriented aggregates for its subsequent DRX analysis and also samples for its isotopic analysis (see Environment section).

The CCiT-UB (Scientific and Technological Services of the UB) offers several techniques that are used by the group members in the field of ore deposits. These techniques include X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy, isotopic ratio mass spectrometry, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, both with energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS), and electron microprobe, among others.

In the UAB campus, in the Department of Geology there is a Thin Section service and there are also several Nikon Eclipse E200 polarizing microscopes and magnifying glasses for the observation and characterization of samples, and a Linkam THMS-600 heating/freezing stage for the measurement of fluid inclusions. Besides, the ICP-MS Lab in the Department of Chemistry and the UAB Electronic Microscopy Service are facilities used by the research team.
