The book of the Concòrdia dels apotecaris de Barcelona (1511) is considered a milestone in the evolution and consolidation of modern science and pharmaceutical practice. It was the first pharmacopeia in Catalonia, written by the apothecaries of Barcelona to solve the problems posed by the range of compositions, appearances, aromas, colours and prices of the medicines prepared in the city. The exhibition not only presents this magnificent and influential work but also showcases a selection of objects of considerable documentary – and in many cases artistic – importance. view exhibition

In her illustrations for the book Vuit rondalles mallorquines by Antoni M. Alcover , Yukiko Murata distils the main idea of each of the eight folktales into images that reflect a balancing act between abstraction and figuration. Always in search of beauty, her artistic creations move between a more metaphorical suggestiveness and the psychology of figurative representation. The result is a combination of shapes and textures in which the meanings of things can sometimes blur and fracture. view exhibition
