Nanoscience and Nanotechnology are disciplines in the frontier of knowledge, which combine knowledge of different fundamental and applied sciences thematically involved to them, such as Biotechnology, Medicine, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Physics, Materials Science Engineering or Electronics Engineering. Nanoscience and Nanotechnology are, therefore, interdisciplinary research and development areas with an increasing activity at international level.
The main objective in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology is the knowledge and control of the fundamental structure of matter at the nanoscale, and their exploitation for the design and development of new products and systems with potential incidence in a wide range of fields with significant socio-economic impact, as:
-Medicine and Pharmacy
-Food and Agricultural Industries
-Aerospace industry
-Information Society Technologies
-Energy
-Environmental Sciences
The Master's Degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of the University of Barcelona is a master program conducted in English and addressed to students with a background in sciences.
This master's program seeks to provide to students professional competences in this field, both industrial and scientific, being able to face problems involving interdisciplinary skills. At the end of the master, the graduates will be able to be creative in a new scientific and/or technological environment involving research teams with a strong interdisciplinary character, and the mandatory subjects ensure this interdisciplinarity. On the other hand, the practical component of the optative subjects is very helpful to develop different kinds of useful applications for society, and in this sense, the orientation of the master can also be adequate for a career in the public or private sector.
This Master aims to train professionals in these fields. For this reason, this Master involves Lecturers, Professors and Researchers from groups with a significant activity in the fields of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the University of Barcelona, with strong interaction with other research institutions and companies within the metropolitan Area of Barcelona.
