The Research Group on Optimization and Dynamic Games in Economics and Finance (ODEF) is recognized as a consolidated group by the Generalitat de Catalunya (2014SGR) and it is also supported by research grants from the Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia (Spanish Government).

The ODEF Research Group focuses its activity on the study of different optimization techniques applied to the fields of Economics and Finance. Our two main current research lines are:

a) The extension of one decision makers problems incorporating general time inconsistent preferences in order to capture biases in the decisions process (as for instance impatient behaviours or increasing concerns for future payments) and studies the effects of these time preferences on economic and financial models.

b) In problems with several agents (dynamic games) we study non-cooperative and cooperative solutions focusing in the case of heterogeneous agents. Current areas of application are environmental and natural resource economics for coalitions with asymmetric players and the sustainability of the cooperative agreements over time, advertising differential games and applications to collective investments over time, as pension plans or optimal portfolio decisions.
