The 2 years project “B-ComPetent. Boosting Competences in Penitentiary Staff in Europe”, carried on by 7 intersectoral partners from 3 countries, is aimed at building capacity of prison civilian front-line staff through the acquisition of specific skills and competences related to human rights protection with focus on foreign inmates’ special needs and rights, in line with the EU and international law and to Recommendation CM/Rec (2012)12.

Objectives
- Analyze the criminal justice system and their local application
- Make visible and report the facts of the criminal justice system that violate fundamental rights and liberties
- Make transparent the actions of the instances of application of penal system
- Contribute to the functioning of networks of associations in Catalonia, in Spain, European and international issues working with the imprisonment of people
- Implement a mechanism to prevent torture in Catalonia under the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading
- Follow carefully the requests related to abuse from public institutions, associations, study groups or individuals
- Contribute to the functioning of the Catalan and state coordinator for the Prevention of Torture
- Participate in the "right to law"
