La acción de la UE en el ámbito de la cooperación judicial en asuntos penales se ve afectada por las condiciones de detención en todos los Estados miembros de la UE. El Consejo de Europa ha adoptado numerosas recomendaciones y normas sobre las condiciones de vida en prisión, y el Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos ha determinado que las condiciones de detención pueden violar la prohibición de la tortura y los malos tratos.

This report is part of the European Union cofunded project “Improving Prison Conditions by Strengthening Infectious Disease Monitoring”, led by Harm Reduction International. The project aims to reduce ill treatment of people
in detention and improve prison conditions through more comprehensive and standardised monitoring of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), tuberculosis (TB) and harm reduction. 

Monitoring HIV, HCV, TB and Harm Reduction in Prisons: A Human Rights-Based Tool to Prevent Ill Treatment

Descripció: 

This tool has been developed by Harm Reduction International, in consultation with an Expert Committee, to assist human rights-based monitoring bodies in fulfilling their preventive mandate in the context of HIV, HCV, TB and harm reduction in prisons.

Improving Prison Conditions by Strengthening Infectious Disease Monitoring

This report forms part of the EU co-funded project “Improving Prison Conditions by Strengthening Infectious Disease Monitoring” implemented under the lead of Harm Reduction International in 2015 and 2016.
 
The project aims to reduce ill-treatment of persons in detention and improve prison conditions through improved and standardised monitoring and inspection mechanisms on HIV, HCV and TB.
