| General information |
The study of the paleobiology of the Mediterranean Neogene is essential to understand the geological history of terrestrial and marine ecosystems in an area that has been affected by a regional crisis (the Messinian dessiccation of the Mediterranean) and by climatic and paleoenvironmental changes that have played a very important role in the characteristics and composition of modern faunas and floras. Our main areas of expertise are mollusk paleontology, ichnology and taphonomy. We develop most of our work in the Neogene of the Mediterranean area but not exclusively. |
