| Objectives |
The fundamental objectives of the master’s
degree are to provide students with:
- the preparation needed to design, develop, produce,
implement and evaluate teaching/learning projects using
information and communication technologies (ICTs); and
- for students focused on research, the knowledge of theoretical
perspectives and methodological tools needed to conduct
research and apply research outcomes.
Competences
The master’s degree seeks to equip students with
the professional capabilities required by the workplace
or by the demands of research in the area of online teaching
and learning environments. The competences can be broken
down as set out below.
Students successfully completing the master’s degree
will know:
- the implications of the information society on education;
- the main theories of virtual learning;
- current and past research specific to the field of virtual
learning;
- the features of e-learning in various professional and
institutional contexts; and
- the advanced uses of technology in education.
Students will also be able to:
- devise a learning design for web-based education;
- design and conduct basic research;
- critique research outcomes from a variety of perspectives;
- take appropriate action in various e-learning management
contexts; and
- manage and design virtual learning.
