The
public policy and economic regulation research group undertakes
applied economic research on various economic activities
of the public sector. Particularly, the group has sound
research experience on the field of evaluating empirically
privatization, regulation and competition policies in markets
for public services (energy, telecoms, postal, water, transport,
medicines), and also, on the field of empirical industrial
organization, regional and urban economics, and the economics
of institutions in the labor market.
Since 2003, the members of the research group are affiliated
to the Institute for Research on Regional and Public Applied
Economics (IREA) that has offices at Barcelona
Scientific Park, and also at the
Espai de Recerca en Economia, the research offices of
the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University
of Barcelona.
The research group offers its research experience and knowledge
to students at the graduate level by organizing the Master
in Economics and Regulation of Utilities, and teaching
in the UB PhD
Program in Economics (PhD quality award).
