Quality, safety and environment policy

The Faculty of Chemistry at the Universitat de Barcelona, by appropriate management of both human and material resources provided by the Generalitat de Catalunya, aims to fulfil, with maximum effectiveness and efficiency, its tasks of training technically competent professionals in the fields of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering. Such professionals should be ethically responsible, able to guarantee health and safety, and be committed to environmental conservation.

To this end, the Faculty of Chemistry has introduced an Integrated Management System for Quality, Environment, Health and Safety, as foreseen in the Statutes of the Universitat de Barcelona. In this context, the Faculty of Chemistry undertakes the following:

  • To identify the needs of students in order to train professionals in the knowledge and skills required by the market.
  • To promote the continuous training of Faculty staff.
  • To promote interest in teaching innovation among members of academic staff.
  • To manage both human resources and the materials available in such a way as to obtain maximum advantage.
  • To increase relationships with society, industry and educational and research establishments.
  • To promote the design of practices and research activities which are both safe and respectful to the environment.
  • To design an effective waste management system.
  • To correct the observed deficiencies related with safety.
  • To establish mechanisms for energy saving.
  • To gather opinions and assess the satisfaction of academic, administrative and service staff, and students.
  • To strive for the continuous improvement of the Integrated Management System for Quality, Environment, Health and Safety.

The achievement of these goals will only be possible with the support of the institution and with the active participation of the whole staff of the Faculty of Chemistry.
