Reports on social responsibility
Since the academic year 2008‒2009 the University of Barcelona (UB) has published an annual report on social responsibility that details (RS) the institution’s impact on society, the economic and the environment. For the academic year 2010‒2011 an executive summary was introduced, which outlines the foremost aspects of the full report, giving readers an easy means of identifying the key outcomes for the period.
The reports are compiled adhering to the methodological guidelines established by Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an independent institution involved in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) that published the first global standards for sustainability reporting.
For the drafting of the 2017‒2018 report, the original standards were abandoned in favour of an adapted version finalized in November 2018 by the UB and Pompeu Fabra University. The new standards give greater scope for compiling reports that reflect the realities of the Catalan public university system.
